Oil Paintings - Introduction

Oil painting is a kind of painting with pigments suspended in drying oil. This technique was very used in early modern Europe. An oil painting allows both fusion of tones and crisp effects and is incomparable for textural variation; each technique in painting has a peculiarity. Oils give different properties to the oil paint, such as less yellowing or varied drying times. The brightness is also a feature of this type of painting.

For their characteristics, the canvas is the surface with more predominance in the oil paintings.  Finished oil paintings are often covered with varnish to protect them and give a special effect. This technique seems complex, but only requires practice to master it. Obviously, the material must be of quality for better results.
